Alberta Peach, Scalloped Fruit Bowl
Alberta Peach, Scalloped Fruit Bowl
3.5 x 8”, Lovely, rich coloring, an autumnal favorite
After graduating from University with a degree in Ceramics, I got a job as a stewardess on a 90 foot sail boat and worked the Mediterranean ports in Spain, France, Italy, and all the islands in between. I fell in love with the brightly colored tin glazed work that is prevalent in the region. Originally developed in Persia in the 13th century, this technique glaze of application has circled the globe. In 1987 my partner Howard Peller and I moved to the historic pottery community of Zanesville, Ohio, to set up an artisan facility. I produce this work now in my farm studio, mostly by myself, hand throwing one piece at a time, and painting beloved patterns with which you may “Set Your Table with a Garden of Color”. The clay body is stoneware, is dishwasher and micro safe, lead free, and when used with love and care will be serviceable for the next generation.
